This is an Iraqi recipe, it is usually cooked during breakfast or dinner time. I have changed the original recipe by adding more flavor to the dish by incorporating more spices and marinating the beef to soak more flavor. This is a very simple, easy and fast dish to make especially if you are busy and want something fast and tasty to eat. You literally cannot go wrong with this recipe. When I usually have leftover Batata Bel-lahm I would use it for breakfast and I would crack a few eggs on top of the batata bel-lahm and Cook it for few minutes, it would taste wonderful. There are different ways to eat this dish, you can eat it just the way it is, or you can make it in a sandwich by using pita bread or Iraqi Samoon bread (recipe on the website) You fill the bread with Batata Bel-lahm add your favorite vegetables then add tahini or yogurt sauce (recipe on the website) on top and enjoy. I love eating Batata Bel-lahm on the top of the basmati rice and drizzle the yogurt sauce on top, Wow it makes a delicious meal I love it.

In another pan add the 3 to 4 tablespoon of olive oil, then add the onion cook for 3 minutes until the onion is tender, add the cooked beef then toss in potatoes, salt, cumin, black pepper, coriander powder, garam masala powder, paprika, and turmeric powder. Then add ¼ cup of water let it boil then lower the heat and cover until the potatoes are fully cooked and tender.
